Valentine Day project #1

This is something I made for my honey for Valentine's day..shhh. don't tell him. He can't have sweets so I got him some peanuts. Idea come from Countdown to Valentine's Day Project #1. I am late posting my creation but wanted to share.

12 on Jan 12th

I saw this idea in Simple Scrapbook where on the 12th day of every month you document what happened by taking photos..then you can select 12 photos to highlight the day's event and journal what happened.

So yesterday was my first attempt:

The day started off early. I work up about 5:00 and couldn't go back to sleep. I got up and surf the net for a little bit. Then I went back to bed for just a bit because by then Addie was getting up. This about 7:30. I turned cartoons on for her in my room.

I did some things around the house--straightened, laundry, and such. Boring Saturday morning chores.

Addie is the queen of I want a popsicle. Every day I hear "I want a popsicle" multiple times.
Here is Addie enjoying her popsicle.

I was participating in an online crop at http://www.fiskateers.com/. I completed a layout for a challenge to use at least 6 pictures and handjournaling. It is the layout that I used for the 30 minute or less too because it took about 15 minutes to complete.
One of Bill's friends came by to visit. Addie went outside with her daddy to play while he visited with his friend. She was playing in the dirt and the flower pots on the front porch. She also made her own plants by pulling weeds and placing them in the flower pots.

My sister called to see if Addie and I wanted to meet her and my niece at the park to play for awhile. I told her we would. After I got dressed, I loaded at Addie and we went to the park for some playtime.

My sister said she needed a new photo for her desktop on her computer at work so I snapped the girls up on a big climbing rock at the park.
After we left the park, we came back home. Addie and I went to visit Jodi to give her some letters I printed off for her. When we returned it was time for Addie to take a nap. Bill was downstairs on his computer playing games the whole time. While Addie napped I got in some computer time. I saw this idea on a web blog to put a piece of cardstock or a back drop behind a flower or other nature scene for a more dramatic effect. So I tried it out with my Christmas cactus that is blooming. I think I need to experiment a little more.

I received a new edition of Kraft foods magazine in the mail. Bill is checking out the recipes. He loves to cook and try new recipes.

After naptime, I caught Addie, Bill and Winston on the couch. Bill was playing the harmonica that Addie got for Christmas. Winston doesn't like the high pitch.

All day long Winston would go to the window to look out it. He would do this little dance. Bill and I cracked up by it.

Since I am rarely in any photos, I snapped this shot of myself so I could prove I was here.

We had Pizza Hut for dinner. Bill and Addie went to pick it up. It was yummy--one pepperoni and mushroom and the other was beef and onion..thin crust. I prefer a thicker crust but Bill likes the thin crust and he ordered it!

It was a pretty dull evening. I surfed the net. I went to Walgreens to pick up pictures that were not ready unit. Addie watched tv. Bill played his computer games. Addie and I went to bed around 10:00 pm. One day I will get her out of my bed. On a happy note, I won a prize from my online crop. Not sure what it is ...so I guess I will have to wait for it to come in.

addie in pjs about to fall asleep watching tv.

30 minute page

I completed this page this morning. This is for Lain Ehamm's 30 minute page challenge that Jen McGuire is hosting for her this month.
The challenge was to complete the page in 30 minutes or less and to use stuff from your stash. I used stickers I have had a couple of years. The patterned paper I have had for 6 years and the ribbon I have had for 5 years. It is about time I used it!!! thanks for looking.

NoelMignon Challenge --Kiss layout

This is for the Kiss layout challenge on http://noelmignonchallenge.blogspot.com/.

This is Addie and Winston when she was just starting to pull up. I caught her giving Winston kisses through the kennel.

How cool is this...

I just found out that I won a Makeup Your Mind bag from http://www.jennaclaire.com/ from leaving a comment on http://www.boutiquecafe.com/home/index.php. Which a very cool website that reviews on a podcast very cool products that I would otherwise no nothing about.

Weekend

Yesterday Bill and Addie ran a couple of errands. Bill said the lady at the bread store told Addie, "You are a pretty boy." Which Addie's response was "I not a boy, I'm a girl!" REALLY??? Does my daughter look like a boy???

Addie went to spend the night with Bill's brother and family last night. She had a blast. Then she went to church with this morning.

Other than that Bill and I had a quiet weekend. I returned some items last night at Target and Kohls. I have done some scrapbooking this weekend. So far I have done 6 layouts for the year!!!

de·ter·mi·na·tion

My word for 2008 is DETERMINATION

On Ali's blog she has a word-focus challenge this year. I have chosen the word determination because this is the year I am determined to accomplish my goals/resolutions. Every year I set goals and I don't keep them but this year I have the determination to do so.

de·ter·mi·na·tion--/dɪˌtɜrməˈneɪʃən/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[di-tur-muh-ney-shuhn] –noun

1. the act of coming to a decision or of fixing or settling a purpose.
2. ascertainment, as after observation or investigation: determination of a ship's latitude.
3. the information ascertained; solution.
4. the settlement of a dispute, question, etc., as by authoritative decision.
5. the decision or settlement arrived at or pronounced.
6. the quality of being resolute; firmness of purpose.
7. a fixed purpose or intention: It is my determination to suppress vice.
8. the fixing or settling of amount, limit, character, etc.: the determination of a child's allowance.
9. fixed direction or tendency toward some object or end.
10. Chiefly Law. conclusion or termination.
11. Embryology. the fixation of the fate of a cell or group of cells, esp. before actual morphological or functional differentiation occurs.
12. Logic.
a. the act of rendering a notion more precise by the addition of differentiating characteristics.
b. the definition of a concept in terms of its constituent elements.

Determination is a virtue characterized by firmness of purpose and resoluteness, such as never giving up when odds are against you.

2007

I made this page for a challenge on Elsie's blog http://www.abeautifulmess.typepad.com/

"*Create a scrapbooking page OR art journal page about how you evolved in 2007 and post it online (any public blog, gallery or whatever). On tuesday I will create a post for you to add your link to and I will choose a few winners and send out some fun goodies..... so, if you want to play along you have a few days to create something!"

The journaling is hidden in the library pocket.

Be-just need to "be" myself
Breathe--need to take a step back and breathe when things aren't going my way
Dream-remember to take time to dream a little
Create-don't forget to create--being creativity makes me happy!
Change-change is gonna happen and needs to be embraced.
